The Soul of the Sushi - The Sushi Rice (Recipe)

Aside from the freshness of the ingredients, sushi rice is one of the criteria, justifying the enjoyment of the sushi eating experience.

While you are enjoying your sushi in Sakae Sushi, have you ever wondered what is the secret behind our sushi? Could it be possible if you can make it at home?

Today, we are going to unveil the secret, and share with you how to make the perfect sushi rice at home.

First of all, please get the ingredients ready:

  1. Japanese Short-grain rice, aka Sushi Rice

  2. Sachi Sushi Rice Vinegar, Sakae Sushi’s house-mix recipe, the soul of our sushi

Now, let's get started!

Step 1: Wash & rinse the Japanese short-grain rice with cold water for a few times and let it soak for 15 minutes.

Step 2: Drain and cook the Japanese short-grain rice with a rice cooker.

Step 3: After cooking, transfer the cooked rice to a bigger bowl.

Step 4: Drizzle our Sachi Sushi Rice Vinegar on it (while it is warm) and stir evenly following the ratio provided.

Step 5: Cover the rice bowl with a damp (slightly wet) towel for 15 minutes to cool down.

Step 6: Pick your favourite ingredients to make delicious sushi, and it’s ready to serve!
